About Vashti Taverner

Art Therapist, Vashti Taverner.jpg

I am a qualified Art Therapist following completion of a Master of Art Therapy at Western Sydney University. I am registered with ANZACATA the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Association for Creative Arts Therapy. I am based in Kiama, NSW.

I have worked with families, individuals and young people who have experienced trauma, adversity, relationship breakdowns and domestic violence. I have worked extensively with people who have experienced acquired brain injury, neurological conditions and physical disabilities as a result of health related incidents such as stroke and heart attack, accident or injury. My work in this area has involved community based rehabilitation and life coaching to help people identify their goals and get back on track with their lives. This has often involved helping people through the process of grief and loss to transition and change.

My training includes visual arts and education. I have worked as a visual arts and design and technology teacher in addition to working in the community health and welfare sector.

I am a practicing artist who experiences the benefits of creativity everyday!

My Philosophy

Creativity comes in many guises. It may be as simple as taking time out to look at and appreciate what is around us: observing the beauty in a leaf or a flower.
